Your dancer’s class will perform in ONE of the shows. We will have a schedule coming soon, assigning each class to a show time, with an intermission between each act. The doors will open 30 minutes prior to each show for seating. All seats are reserved, and we are excited to offer some special codes for people who need to attend multiple shows. We will have some limited VIP seats available for sale as well. Tickets will be available for purchase online, and we plan to open ticket sales by April 20th.
Since we are expecting all of the shows to be very full and well-attended, everyone will need a purchased ticket to watch the performance in the theater. We will have fun activities going on backstage to keep our dancers entertained while the show is running.
All dancers should arrive 1 hour prior to show time. Tickets in advance are $20 VIP, $16 for adults, $12 for seniors, and $10 for students (ages 3-18.). Please no flash photography or video of the performances, as we will have a professional video download available for purchase. Photos and video are OK at the dress rehearsal! The ticket proceeds pay our theater rental and theater staff.
Sunday May 19
1pm All Team Recital and Awards Show
We are excited about our all team show. After the team recital, Miss Kathleen will be presenting VDV annual studio awards and awarding over $10,000 worth of scholarships for next season of dance to some very deserving students. She will also be honoring our amazing teaching staff and our studio manager, team managers, assistant teachers, dance team captains and co-captains. Next, we will honor all students of the month, outstanding Starpower and OnStage New York dance team students, and high school graduates! Miss K will also be presenting the “Party Like It’s 19..(99)!” awards (19 studio awards that can be presented to anyone at the studio!) Awards will also be presented for outstanding parent of the year, studio excellence winners, outstanding dance soloist, vocal soloist, 5-year vocal award, 10-year studio awards, and crowning of our 2019 students of the year. This is a dress up event, and all dancers who will be honored are encouraged to dress up for this event! Break a leg! So many awards!!!!!!!! A complete list is coming soon of which students will be part of our awards!
Hair, Makeup, Shoes and Tights
During the dress rehearsal and recital, we will require full hair, makeup and costumes. Head to toe! The dancers will rehearse hair styles and costume changes, as you know practice makes “performance”! The stage lights are professional quality and can really drown out your dancer’s facial features, so stage make up is essential. This consists of foundation, pink blush, black eyeliner, mascara, and red lips. Team dancers may have more specific requirements. For our classes, the hair assignments will come out with the rehearsal and recital line up! All ballet classes need ballet pink tights and pink leather ballet shoes, laces tied and tucked in.
Recital Weekend Goodies
During the recital, we will be having amazing concessions for purchase in the lobby at the snack bar. This is a fundraiser for our dance teams! Yummy! We will also have VDV Dancewear for sale, as well as some VDV merchandise! Flowers will also be for sale, to congratulate your dancer/singer!
You’re on Camera! Recital download order forms coming soon!
We have exciting news…Show and Tell Productions will be our professional videographer for the recitals. We will have high resolution videos, available via digital download. Each show will be available for $30, and all orders can be placed through VDV. DVDs will no longer be available.
Helpful Hints for Recital
-Prior to recital, please remove nail polish.
-Make a list of your dancer’s costumes, write your child’s name in the tag of each costume piece, and bring all costumes to rehearsal/recital, including shoes and accessories.
-Have dancer dressed in costume with correct tights, shoes, hair, and makeup and ready to go 5 dances before they perform.
-Secure all hair pieces with bobby pins.
-Bring water and non-messy snacks for your dancer, for in between numbers.
-If dancers have multiple dance numbers, having a tan leotard under costumes for quick changes is helpful.
-If your dancer has quick changes (less than 3 numbers), bring costume and shoes to backstage hallway to change.
2019-2020 Dance Team Auditions: Tuesday or Wednesday, May 21st or 22nd (Attend one day only)
If you are interested in auditioning for a jazz, tap, hip hop, singing, or production team, auditions will be Tuesday, May 21st OR Wednesday, May 22nd, from 4:00-6:30pm at the Firehall. Interested dancers ages 6 and up are welcome to attend. Being on a VDV team requires commitment, dedication, great attendance, a love of performing, and a financial commitment, as well. Our teams compete at two local competitions. More info to come. Please only attend one audition day. Dancers will be auditioning from 4-5:30pm, and all singing team/production singers from 5:30-6:30pm each day. Singing team/production singers, please prepare a 1-minute song, with or without music on an iPod. Due to scheduling and team placements, the fall dance schedule could be different from this year. If needed, there may be an end of the summer audition for additional interested students. Team results will be emailed by June 15th!
We understand, that some may have a conflict with the audition days, so you can attend our McMinnville audition for placement at VDV McMinnville, 201 Ford Street, McMinnville, OR 97128. Please keep in mind too, that some McMinnville students may audition and be added to teams at the end of June, after their auditions!
